5k Race day
The alarm went off early. 6:00 a.m. and I had set two alarms to be sure that I wasn't going to oversleep. Wanted to see what the weather was so I peaked out the window. Oh no, it was pouring rain. Looked like a lot less wind, but couldn't escape the water. I let Ian sleep for another 15 minutes and I prayed that the rain would stop before we left the hotel. 7:00 a.m. Time to leave and ...no rain. It had stopped. Made our way to the course at Copley and Boylston. Talked with a lot of other runners on the train. It was windy when we got to the start so Ian and I huddled under the tents. At 7:45 we left for the starting line. Gun went off at 8:00 a.m. and Ian and I made our way through the downtown course. People were cheering him on. One guy asked Ian not to pass him, but he did. Best comment of the day by Ian, "It seems like we are running in squares". Ian did great. No stopping. He was so proud of himself when he finished. Me, I had a smile on my face for him from ear to ear!
