Thur. Feb 10, 2011 66 Days to Boston --The Goal Factor
No matter what you do in life, things always seem more attainable when you attach a goal to it. You might have a goal for your job, your family, financial, or a sport. It’s a great focal point to keep you moving and track your progression. Last year when I trained for Boston, I knew that a cross train would help me become a stronger runner. I decided that I would kill two birds with one stone by not only cross training, but cross training with a sport that I had a fear of, swimming. My goal last year was to be able to swim 1 mile after my running workout before I left for Boston. Well, I worked really hard at it and finished a mile swim before I headed to Boston. This year I thought. Hey if I can swim 1 mile why not try and double that and do 2 mile swim workouts after my morning runs. 36 laps equal 1 mile. So, 72 would be 2 miles. Which brings me to today. After a lot of hard work, I did it. Swam 72 laps. A full 2 miles without stopping. Today…I own the pool!!!! Goal set and achieved, check!
Indoor Track workout today saved me from running in the sub-zero temps. Today’s workout was 6x800 with 2 minutes rests. Then 1 mile cool down.
