Sun Feb 6, 2011 70 Days to Boston The Scratch Factor
28 degrees 2 mph winds
Even 6 mile run.
What started off as a day of running the Carey course ended with a long drive and a run in Elmhurst. Got up early for a 5:30 pick-up. We were scheduled to meet in Lombard. It was snowing and hard. Hard to see while driving so we decided to forgo the Carey run and try the Arboretum. Drove to the McDonalds on 53 and weather was terrible. Decided not to risk a run down 53 so we made our way back to Elmhurst. Ashley, Boston and I decided to run 6 miles in the 2 inches of new fallen snow. Had the yak track son which helped a bit but the pace was quick and it was a challenge. Running with Ashley and Nancy was a challenge but I managed to keep up with them through 4.2 miles. Then..I fell back about 20 seconds. Still it was a good run considering the conditions. Finished in 54 minutes which was good for the conditions and clothing I was wearing. Happy I had a chance to get out and run. Thankful that I had an opportunity to try and get better by running with people better than me.
